Rain Harvesting

» Can I retro fit a system to my home?
A retro fit is more than possible but a little more time consuming. It is much easier on a new build or a large renovation.

» Does the system require maintenance?
There is an internal filter that should be cleaned around every three months, other than that the system is "fit and forget".

» How does the system work?
Rainwater is collected from your roof area, it is then passed through a filter system which removes any large pieces of debris, leaves etc, and then onto the underground tank through a calmed inlet design to shop the displacement of any sediment in the bottom of the tank. Excess water will pass through a siphoned overflow fitted to the tank to be connected to the storm drain or soakaway. A subersible pump is located in the storage tank, this pumps the rainwater to the building to be piped to the Wc's etc.

» How much does a system cost?
Domestic systems start at £2000+vat to around £3500+vat, this doesn't include installation.

» How much water can a system save?
It can save you up to 50% on your mains water, and up to 80% on commercial usage.

» What are the tanks made from?
For our domestic systems we use a one piece roto moulded HDPE tank, which in good ground conditions does not require a concrete surround. For our larger commercial systems we use GRP tanks.

» What can you use the rainwater for?
You can use the rainwater for all non potable applications, ie Wc's washing machines, garden irrigation, etc.

» What is Rainwater harvesting?
Rainwater is a very simple concept, you collect rainwater from your roof area, filter it, store it and then use it for all non potable applications- simple.

» Where is it installed?
The tank should be buried underground close to the property making sure that there is suitable access for maintaince of the system and submersible pump.

Package Pump Stations

» Does the system require maintenance?
All pump stations require at least an annual service, please see our Service/Maintenance page.

» What is a Package Pump Station?
When a gravity fall cannot be achieved to the main sewer, a PPS has to be fitted to pump up/along to allow this to happen.

» What is the best pump to use?
We use a variety of different pumps for different applications, depending on the distance, height and pipe size. Our sales team will work on this information to size the best pump for your needs.

» What size of system do I need?
We offer a variety of different systems. To apply with the Building Regulations BSEN752-6 you have to allow "150 litres per head per day for domestic use. For other types of buildings, the capacity of the necessary chamber should be based on the calculated daily demand of the water intake of the building".
